What is Sealy Posturepedic?

You may be familiar with the word ‘Posturepedic’ – but what does this name mean, and what sets it apart?

Where does the word 'Posturepedic' come from?

Sealy Posturepedic represents the culmination of years of continuous research and the development of technology and systems to provide the best support for your back and body while sleeping. When you sleep on a Sealy Posturepedic bed, it’s more than a combination of springs, foam, and fabric.

What is a Posturepedic mattress?

We make our Posturepedic mattresses with three founding principles: support, comfort, and durability. Getting the right balance across these three areas is paramount and forms our product architecture for beds with ultimate back support.

SUPPORT

While you might assume that every mattress is supportive, we know that not all are created equal based on our rigorous testing. We design our Sealy Posturepedic bed range based on a history of orthopedically correct evidence to help provide the right amount of support your body needs.

Here’s how it works:

  • Your body needs to be correctly supported to allow your muscles to relax
  • The relief of pressure points will minimise your body’s need to toss and turn during sleep

From a support perspective, Sealy has invested years of research and development into our Open Coil Technology, which is central to the Posturepedic bed support system.

Different springs provide support for your neck, back, and hips. The springs inside a Sealy Posturepedic mattress are known as innerspring coils, constructed from titanium alloy. These metal springs are light but very strong and provide deep support based on the criteria developed by orthopaedic surgeons. Inherently, the Sealy Posturepedic support system senses your body’s weight and motion and responds with the right support level. This customised support helps to provide a better quality of sleep.

COMFORT

In essence, mattress comfort comes from its foam layers. But building a great mattress isn’t just about layering foam together; you need to make sure all the layers work to create the right mattress ‘feel’, which can range from ultra-plush to extra-firm and everything in between. We engineer architectural principles and designs to ensure all the layers work harmoniously and continue to do so over time.

The comfort layers of a Sealy Posturepedic bed are made from a mixture of memory foam and gel-infused Visco, which provide extra cushioning, allowing you to ‘sink into’ your mattress for a luxurious comfort feel.

Having the right layers also helps dissipate pressure and relieve soreness for optimum bed support. For example, if you’re a side sleeper, there will be pressure on your hip and shoulder at the points which meet the mattress. Comfort increases conformance which helps to ensure you get into an optimal sleeping position.

DURABILITY

A common problem with mattresses is that they begin to sag and deteriorate over time, which can be detrimental to your health. Furthermore, they can become uncomfortable and keep you tossing and turning at night.

When you select a Sealy Posturepedic mattress, you are getting a product with components subjected to continuous fatigue and wear and tear testing to ensure absolute quality for a bed with ultimate back support.

The Posturepedic difference

We engineer our Sealy Posturepedic mattresses strategically to provide proper support for the entire body, with the promise of great sleep and guaranteed optimal functioning for ten years.

When selecting a Sealy Posturepedic, you will understand quality sleep and wake up feeling rested and refreshed each time.
